TOLEDO EXCEL: Graduation & Induction Ceremony
Since TOLEDO EXCEL Group I completed high school in 1993, a graduati
on
ceremony has been held each year to recognize the graduating students,
their accomplishments in high school and honors or acknowledgments awarded
for their hard work and dedication to academic success. Each June, the
ceremony with a reception afterwards, allows about a thousand people,
TOLEDO EXCEL students, members of their families, EXCEL staff members, UT
officials and other leaders of the community, an opportunity to celebrate
the success of another year, and another EXCEL Group—scholars ready to
begin their post-secondary education and preparation for eventual
professional careers.
The EXCEL Student Profile form is a very important,
necessary and integral part of the graduation process. The Profile enables
graduating seniors to provide the EXCEL Office with complete and thorough
information about academic achievements to this point, as well as
extracurricular activities to their credit. Information provided by
students is put together in a Graduation Booklet for each EXCEL Group,
featuring short biographical sketches of members of the group, along with
their senior pictures.
In addition to documenting the achievements of
members of each Group, the Graduation Booklet provides an on-going,
progressive glimpse of the history of the TOLEDO EXCEL Program, and serves
as a souvenir and reference for years to come.
At Graduation each year,
the pride of the past and tradition of the program are conveyed to the
future through the introduction of a new group of EXCEL scholars—indeed, a
worthy, ceremonial event.
