TOLEDO EXCEL: Formal Ball
An Evening of Enchantment
The
Annual Formal Ball is a special event designed to be a showcase for and
celebration of the accomplishments and characteristics of selected
students as they are transformed into the princes and princesses of our
community. TOLEDO EXCEL’s "Royal Court" is twenty-four students chosen by
their peers to represent their respective groups in the categories of
Talent, Congeniality, and Academic Excellence. The significance of their
selection, and the distinction that comes along with it is that they
represent the “best of the best” of TOLEDO EXCEL.
Students presented stood before a panel of judges at the Imperial Pageant,
a pre-Ball competition, on Sunday, December 4, 2005. Candidates in the
Talent Category performed vocal or instrumental music, dramatic speech, or
dance. The Congeniality Category required students to demonstrate
confidence, persuasiveness, and communication skills in their responses to
questions posed by the judges. Those in the Academic Excellence Category
were judged on the ability to reason, analyze, and provide thoughtful,
in-depth answers to judges’ questions.
During the Imperial Pageant, judges rated each contestant’s
performance, selecting one male and one female in each category to receive
the Model of EXCELlence Awards. These winners, along with one student with
the highest marks from each EXCEL group, form the Majestic Court. The
judges also selected EXCEL’s King and Queen who will reign over the EXCEL
family for the upcoming academic year. Members of the Royal and Majestic
Courts exemplify the best of TOLEDO EXCEL, and we are extremely proud to
showcase their talent, poise, and grace, all winning characteristics, on
this page.
